Hello! I'm Taylor Zisfain! Aside from being a health and wellness connoisseur, I have been described as an adventurer, yogi, rock climber, snowboarder, hiker, backpacker, good food eater, cook, and pizza and smoothie enthusiast, just to name a few. I find ways to make each new day better than the last and I would love to help you do the same! Keep reading to learn a little more about me and how I ended up where I am today.
As a self-proclaimed optimist, I have always wanted to make the world a better place. At UCLA, I studied Environmental Science to equip myself with the tools and knowledge to make this happen. As President of the Ski and Snowboard Team I was able to spend lots of time in the physical environment that we only talked about in the classroom, strengthening my passion for the outdoors and the healing powers of nature. Upon graduation I began working in the field of environmental consulting. While this job gave me invaluable workplace experience I found myself uninspired. Ultimately answering to corporations that didn't really care about the environment was disheartening and I knew that I needed a change.
I decided to head to Southeast Asia to do some serious soul searching. For the first time in my life, with time to roam free, I could finally let my mind do the same. I could finally contemplate the things that were really important to me and what I wanted out of a career and life. The “aha moment” hit while I was enjoying a fresh fruit shake (dragonfruit, orange, lime, and banana) overlooking a gorgeous sunset in Ton Sai, Thailand after a nice long day of rock climbing. Surrounded by healthy, happy people, something suddenly clicked:
Healthy & Happy People = Healthy & Happy Planet!
I’m still not sure exactly how or why, but I was suddenly asking myself how people could try to heal the world if they were unhealthy themselves. I have always loved healthy fresh foods and have always wanted to make the world a better place, so why couldn’t I combine those passions? I subsequently started studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to equip myself with the tools to teach others about the importance of primary care and eating sustainably and healthfully to better themselves and the planet.
While eating mindfully is definitely an important aspect of health, it's only a small part of the picture. If something is bothering me, no exorbitant amount of kale or goji berries are going to make me feel better. That's where yoga comes into the picture. Yoga found me during a particularly stressful time. Through yoga I was forced to take time to myself, to let go of whatever was bothering me and just be present. In my opinion, yoga is the easiest and fastest way to feel better both physically and emotionally. I decided to become certified as a teacher so that I could share this life changing happiness practice with my friends, family, and future clients.
In addition to yoga, I am an avid outdoors enthusiast! I am particularly passionate about rock climbing, but truly believe that being outside and breathing clean fresh air has amazing healing properties. I'm a firm believer in multitasking too, so if you'd like to get your health consulting sessions done on a hike, I'm your gal! Any more questions? Contact me and FEEL INCREDIBLE TODAY!
